I have been researching Gryphon lore and art tonight, to find good artistic renditions on which to base art for a group I belong to. There is such variation in artistic interpretation, that I had to look for descriptions in antiquity. I like the versions of Hollar, Tenniel, Sendak, and also Fastwings. The emaciated version of Schongauer is disgusting!! LOL As for personality traits, I like them as guardians of treasure, and protectors of royalty, making them, as I view them, non-threatening to honest and peaceful people.Philippe Phoenix-Gryphonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2303338240948428759.post-91948228786447596032011-01-26T17:18:14.958-05:002011-01-26T17:18:14.958-05:00Griffins are definitely fun in stories and art, bu...Griffins are definitely fun in stories and art, but I am not entirely clear about their personality traits. So perhaps I'd rather not meet one in person. Fastwings is my idea of what a griffin ought to look like.Paxnoreply@blogger.com
